Arabic Natural Language Processing

 ?        Core and Basic Modules:

1)      Morphological Knowledge.

2)      Syntactic Knowledge.

3)      Semantic Knowledge, including:

a.       Pragmatic Knowledge.

b.      World Knowledge.

c.       Lexical Knowledge.

This part constitutes the nucleus of the Arabic Language model on which the work is concentrated and directed towards producing the required utilities, tools, and sub-systems.

 ?        Calligraphy Modules:

Dealing with the typed and hand written formats of the Arabic language, including the Optical Character Recognition component.

 ?       Phonetic and Phonological Modules:

Dealing with spoken language from different angles: how words are realized as sounds, automatic recognition and synthesis of the language.

In the core technology sector, some major developments have been achieved, resulting in building and developing some basic blocks in the core technology. A Morphological Analyzer has been developed, and a very sound, robust and stable component has been achieved. This major component is used as a building block in many subsequent technologies producing many products that could be utilized and marketed either as part of other technologies or as stand alone products. Utilizing the Morphological Analyzer, several products have been developed on top of this component, they all are available and can be demonstrated. Those products are:

?        Arabic Indexing and Search Engine.

?        Automatic Term Translator.

?        The Language Matrix.

?        Financial Terms Lexicon.

Moreover, another core technology product developed and implemented, is the Syntactic (Grammatical) Analyzer. This component is being built representing the Arabic Grammar, and can be used to parse sentences. This is a major component that could be used in building:

?        Spell Checkers.

?        Vocalizer.

?        Identifying Tool of parts of the sentence, this tool is ready and now is available as a product.
